On Friday, the Deutsche Fußball Liga (DFL) published the schedule for the 2022/23 Bundesliga season. Eintracht Frankfurt and Bayern München will open the season on Friday, 5th August (20:30 CEST). Mainz’s first match will be away against VfL Bochum, who count former Zerofivers Gerrit Holtmann, Sebastian Polter and Kevin Stöger to their ranks, on either 6th or 7th August. FSV’s first home game will be against Union Berlin the following weekend.

Overall, it’s a very solid run of fixtures for us at the start, against clubs that we are very evenly-matched against.

Head of sport Christian Heidel had this to say about the fixtures: “The fixtures being announced always triggers this feeling of excitement ahead of the new season. Overall, it’s a very solid run of fixtures for us at the start, against clubs that we are very evenly-matched against. We aren’t starting with a home game, but rather with an exciting away game in Bochum and the motivation to improve our record there.”
