“I’m really disappointed”

  • #RBLB04 match report

Marco Rose

  • “It was a great game that ebbed and flowed a lot. We started the first half really brightly, but Bayer Leverkusen deserved to win because of the way they played in the second half. They were too dominant and our decision-making in possession wasn’t good enough, which meant we found ourselves chasing the game a lot. We’ve got to improve in this area.”

David Raum

  • “I’m annoyed that we lost. We wanted to beat Leverkusen. We controlled the game in the first half and we could have scored a second goal. I think that they put us under more pressure when we had the ball in the second half. When all’s said and done, we conceded three goals and lost the match. I’m really disappointed, because we were our own worst enemies.”

Xavi

  • “We’re disappointed with the result because we worked hard. We’ve just got to keep going, though – there’s still a long way to go. Leverkusen are a good team and they tried to get on the ball as much as possible.”

Christoph Baumgartner

  • “It’s really tough. I think you can see that Leverkusen had a lot of momentum, since they also scored an injury-time winner last weekend. At the end of the day, they put us under pressure and we couldn’t cope with it. We couldn’t keep hold of the ball. We conceded two goals from set-pieces, which is far too many.”

Rouven Schröder

  • “The first half belonged to us, but the second half was Leverkusen’s. We should’ve scored a second goal after starting the game so well, as Leverkusen were clearly going to have a lot of confidence going into the game. It goes without saying that we’re really annoyed to have lost twice in a row at the start of the new year, but we’ve got to keep our heads up. We’re a good team, after all. We want to get back to winning ways as soon as possible.”
