“With his size and power, Haris is a typical striker who has proven his scoring prowess over the past few years at various clubs. He is an experienced player and a model professional,” said Frank Kramer, TSG’s interim sporting director, on the signing of Tabaković, adding: “Haris is a mentality player and goal scorer who can set the tone going forward in a game.”

Haris Tabaković moved from historic Austrian club Austria Vienna to Germany’s Bundesliga 2 side Hertha BSC in the summer of 2023 and immediately became a key player there. The Bosnian striker scored 22 goals (six assists) in 32 games for the Berliners and was joint top scorer in the second-tier last season along with Robert Glatzel (Hamburger SV) and Christos Tzolis (then Fortuna Düsseldorf). Tabaković also made four appearances in the DFB-Pokal last season, scoring three times and setting up a further goal for Hertha.

Tabaković had already proven his qualities as a goalscorer time and again in previous years. The 30-year-old scored 18 goals (three assists) in 30 games for Austria Vienna in the 2022/2023 Austrian Bundesliga season and even finished as the league’s top scorer a year earlier in Austria’s Bundesliga 2, with 27 goals (four assists) in 23 games for Austria Lustenau. In Vienna, Tabaković also played one game in the Champions League qualifiers (one goal), two games in the Europa League qualifiers and five matches in the Conference League.

The Swiss-born Bosnian played for all of the Swiss national youth teams, but now plays for Bosnia and Herzegovina. Tabaković has made two appearances for the Bosnian national team since his debut in November 2023.
