TSG Hoffenheim used the international break for a test match which was not open to the public. Pellegrino Matarazzo’s team started strongly against the Swiss first league team FC Zürich in the Dietmar Hopp stadium, and took the lead just under 30 minutes into the game with a goal by Pavel Kadeřábek (27′). Shortly before half time, Marius Bülter extended their lead with a lovely finish from the edge of the box, just under the crossbar. In the second half, TSG kept the pressure on, and the next goal came from a penalty by Jacob Bruun Larsen (60′) after a foul against Marco John. Two minutes later, the visitors from Zürich narrowed the gap: Jonathan Okita scored from a direct free kick from around 18 metres to make the final score 3-1.
