The decision to also compete in Pro Clubs in future heralded a new era at TSG eSPORTS last summer. Following our involvement at the professional level and the establishment of our eAcademy, we have also been active in the popular 11 vs 11 mode for several months thanks to a cooperation with Lamars Squad, which offers TSG fans the opportunity to make the move from the South Stand to the virtual pitch. Numerous fans and TSG members as well as players from the Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region have taken advantage of this opportunity and have now completed a successful inaugural season.
Our TSG Pro Clubs team has played 26 matchdays in Pro League Championship Two, recording 16 wins in the process. The team celebrated their debut victory by beating FC Gütersloh 2-0 on the very first matchday and, ultimately, TSG eSPORTS secured fifth place in the table with 51 points. “We used the first season to gain experience and put in some very good performances,” said TSG Pro Clubs team manager and Lamars Squad co-founder Patrick ‘Pat_Lamar’ Burghoffer, reflecting on the first season together.
Promotion to the Pro League Championship the goal
At the end of the season, our team narrowly missed out on another win after conceding two late goals in a 3-3 draw against third-placed FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt eSports. With 12 scorer points (8 goals / 4 assists), Dominik ‘TheMomylp’ Erös was the 11th most successful scorer and became MVP seven times; Marco ‘Tsg_XxSnipe469xX’ Sommer was the second most successful keeper with eight clean sheets; Ben ‘Tsg_Benjoo’ Küster kept just as many clean sheets as a defender.
“Our goal is to play for promotion to the first division in the new Championship season, which starts soon,” said ‘Pat_Lamar’, who went on to cite an important factor: “We have formed a team that not only plays Pro Clubs together, but also supports TSG together at the stadium on matchdays.” In addition to the sporting side of things, the focus of our Pro Clubs engagement is on team spirit and the TSG community. We provide regular updates on current activities here on the homepage and, of course, on our social media channels.
In the quarter-final of the Ligapokal
In addition to the Championship, our Pro Clubs team also competed in the Pro League’s Ligapokal and are currently in the quarter-finals. In the round of 16 (best of three), the team defeated league rivals SC Nahe 2-1; in the previous rounds, they had overcome 1. CfR Pforzheim and SC Preußen Münster. In Mocki’s Pro Clubs League, which was founded by Sascha Mockenhaupt of SV Wehen Wiesbaden, TSG eSPORTS finished seventh and narrowly missed out on the play-offs. In the associated cup competition, the team got to the semi-finals.
