My best goal: Andrej Kramarić

“The best and most important goal was definitely our first goal on the final day of the 2019/20 season in Dortmund, when we won 4-0 and I scored all four goals. It was really important for us to win that game to qualify for the Europa League. We knew we had to get three points and that’s exactly how we performed. We knew what we had to do and showed this attitude and put them under pressure from the very first minute.”

It therefore made sense that we took the lead in the eighth minute. We won possession, the ball made its way to Ihlas Bebou, who drove forward a few metres and slipped it through to Pavel Kadeřábek. He then played the ball across the box to me, I caught it perfectly first time and it curled into the top corner of the near post. It was a really nice goal, but above all a really important one. I saw how Pavel took off into the open space when Ihlas got the ball. I realised that the Dortmund defenders were anticipating a cross into the middle, so I broke away a little and lurked on the edge of the area. The space in behind was clear and Pavel picked me out.

Unfortunately there were no fans in the stadium due to the pandemic. I didn’t cheer too wildly, it was always hard doing that with the ghostly stands. It was also too early for us to celebrate anything. We kept our focus so as to be able to add to our lead. The fact that I then scored three more goals made it the perfect day. It was a dream game. I have the ball from that game at home, everyone in the squad signed it.”
