“Everyone at the club was enthused by the idea of bringing Marius to TSG. We’re not only convinced by his footballing qualities, which he adequately demonstrated not least in the past season, but also by the person. Marius possesses many characteristics that we attach particular importance to after a season that was a learning curve for us: speed, desire, mentality, physical presence and goal threat,” said TSG managing director Alexander Rosen. “Following rather intensive negotiations and numerous discussions, we’re delighted that we’ve now been able to complete the transfer. Marius waived a contractually agreed share of the transfer fee and in doing so made a decisive contribution to the success of his transfer. That shows his character and underlines his total desire to play for TSG,” Rosen added.

“I would like to thank everyone who has made a contribution to the completion of the transfer and has made it possible for me to now focus entirely on football and a new, exciting challenge,” said Marius Bülter of his transfer to Hoffenheim, adding: “Following the first round of talks with the TSG management, it was clear to me which direction things would go. I felt highly valued from the first minute and would now like to pay the club back for the trust shown in me on the pitch.”

Marius Bülter moved from Union Berlin to FC Schalke 04 – for whom he scored 23 goals (14 assists) in 69 competitive appearances – in July 2021. He was therefore not only one of the key contributors to gaining promotion in the 2021/22 season, but also played a significant part in a strong second half-season for Schalke, who were eventually relegated from the Bundesliga, by scoring 11 goals across 33 Bundesliga appearances last term. In total, the 30-year-old has made 91 Bundesliga and 32 second-tier appearances for Schalke and Union Berlin in the last four years (29 goals). Bülter will wear the shirt number 21 for TSG.
