“We are always accused of having no tradition. Indeed, we don’t boast the same historical successes that other clubs have on their record books. But of course we also have a tradition, it just hasn’t been cultivated in the past,” says TSG President Kristian Baumgärtner. “The celebrations to mark our 125th anniversary are now a welcome opportunity to change that.”
The new TSG Hoffenheim history pages, which are designed in a retro style, not only deal with the club chronicle, i.e. the history of the gymnasts from 1899, the footballers who joined in 1921, the merger after the Second World War and other temporary departments, but also go into statistical depth.
Former squads, team photos and league tables will also gradually be published, and all players who have played in a competitive match for TSG since 2000 will be honoured with a details page. All past and future texts with a historical flavour will be available in the “Library” section and there will be a “Legends” section in which we will feature portraits of athletes who have left their mark on TSG.
But we won’t reveal any more at this point. Just this much: the pages will continue to be filled with life over the course of the anniversary year. The whole thing will be flanked by a Facebook page “TSG Hoffenheim History”, which will also go online this week, providing regular updates and stories for which there is no space on the homepage.
