Junior Adamu was in the youth system at Grazer AK and the RB Salzburg academy, with the 17-year-old making his first-team debut for FC Liefering. He came back into the FB Salzburg first-team squad in the 2020/21 season and was loaned out to FC St. Gallen in the Swiss Super League in winter. He scored six goals in 14 appearances for FCSG. Since his return to Salzburg in the 2021/22 season, Adamu has made 84 competitive appearances in the first division, Champions league, Europa League and ÖFB-Cup and has been Austrian champion twice with the team. The striker has scored a total of 23 goals and made 11 assists. In November 2020, he made his debut for the Austria national side.
“Junior is a versatile attacking player who can play centrally but also off to the side. He plays with high intensity, has a good eye for goal and always works for the team,” said board member Jochen Saier. “As with all our young players, he still has a lot of potential for development. We want to fully exploit that in our work together. With his attitude and our way of working, we are looking ahead with optimism. We are very excited.”
Junior Adamu said, “SC Freiburg have a very good reputation in Austria, which I have seen also in the conversations with the management and people who know the club well. I want to continue to improve and establish myself in the Bundesliga. Freiburg is the right place for that.”
Junior Adamu will wear the number 20 shirt for SCF. Both parties have agreed not to disclose the contents of the contract.
