Alongside 26 first and second division sides in the main draw, there were also six teams from the third division of lower in a separate draw. The draw of these teams, who will all have home fixtures in the second round, took place first and was done by former Germany international Shkodran Mustafi.

Then, it was the turn of the remaining first and second division sides. SC will have a home game, having been pulled out of the hat by 2014 World Cup winner Mustafi first.
