Thomas Sulewski, head coach of Borussia Dortmund’s women’s first team, will also take on the role of sporting coordinator for the BVB women. The 33-year-old took over the position as head coach in 2021 and has since won several titles with the team.

Sulewski’s tasks now include setting up a scouting system, regular dialogue with his colleagues in the coaching team and picking out talented players to add to the team. He has been with the women’s first team from the start and has already celebrated success: in addition to winning the Hallenstadtmeisterschaft indoor tournament in 2023 and lifting the Kreispokal back-to-back in 2022 and 2023, Sulewski played a major role in guiding the BVB ladies to promotion to the Bezirksliga and then the Landesliga – the first major milestones for women’s football at Borussia Dortmund.

Head of department Svenja Schlenker emphasised: “He lives for football and Borussia Dortmund and always goes the extra mile to get the best out of our club. He can now put his full focus on women’s football and its continuous development and professionalisation.”

Sulewski himself can’t wait to get started: “I am massively looking forward to the third season with Borussia Dortmund and above all to the new tasks in my new role.”
