The 26th Handball World Cup will get under way in Scandinavia on 29 November. A total of six Borussia players will be represented at the finals, which will take place in Norway, Sweden and Denmark.

Goalkeeper Sarah Wachter and Lisa Antl have been called up by the Germany national team, who will play their matches in Herning, Denmark. The pivot is already taking part in her third tournament, while it will be Wachter’s first. The Borussia duo will start their tournament on 30 November when they take on team-mate Haruno Sasaki and her Japan team in their opening match. Poland and Iran will complete Group F.

The Netherlands, whose squad includes Tess Lieder and Harma van Kreij, are the favourites in Group H. The team will face Czechia, Argentina and the Republic of Congo in the northern Danish town of Frederikshavn.

Carmen Campos’ Spain are also regarded as a group favourite. Their opponents in Group G, which will also be held in Frederikshavn, are Brazil, Ukraine and Kazakhstan.

The eight groups in the preliminary round will progress to four groups in the main round. The top two teams from each group will reach the quarter-finals. The medals will be up for grabs on the big final day in Herning (Denmark) on 17 December.
