Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich are set to face each other for the 109th time in the Bundesliga. Here are the facts about the big game at SIGNAL IDUNA PARK on Saturday evening (kick-off 18:30 CET).

Outlook: Both teams remain undefeated this season. Bayern have started with seven wins and two draws and are in second place with 23 points; two points and two places behind them are BVB (six wins, three draws), who would leapfrog the Bavarians with a win.

History: This will be the 43rd competitive fixture between Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich in the past 13 years. In addition to the 26 Bundesliga matches, there have been seven cup clashes (including three finals), eight Super Cup matches and, the highlight, the 2013 UEFA Champions League final. Borussia have won 13 of these matches and Bayern Munich 25. Dortmund’s last win against Munich dates back to 3 August 2019 (2-0 in the Super Cup thanks to goals from Alcacer and Sancho), while their last Bundesliga victory dates back to 10 November 2018 (3-2, with Marco Reus netting a brace and Paco Alcacer scoring the winner).

Home & away: BVB are unbeaten in 26 matches at SIGNAL IDUNA PARK (20 of them in the Bundesliga) and have scored at least one goal in each of their last 56 league games at home. FCB have won five of their six away games in the Bundesliga this season.

Head-to-head: In matches played in Dortmund between the two sides, BVB have come out on top 16 times, while Bayern have won 18. The remaining 20 games ended in a draw. BVB have not been beaten at home more times by any other opponent. Borussia have failed to score a goal against Bayern on 32 occasions in the Bundesliga – but conversely, no other team have managed to keep a clean sheet against Bayern more often than BVB (22 clean sheets).

Statistics: Borussia Dortmund have won five of their last six league matches, are unbeaten in 17 games across this season and last and have five more points to their name than at the same point last season (16). Bayern come into the game having only failed to score in one of their last 124 Bundesliga matches, not to mention on the back of a three-game winning streak and with seven more points than after the first nine matchdays of last season.

Names: Mats Hummels is on the cusp of his 28th appearance in Der Klassiker and can draw level with record appearance holder Michael Zorc. Oliver Kahn is level with Hummels in second place (27 games). Marco Reus has notched up 19 scorer points (twelve goals, seven assists) in 33 competitive matches against Bayern Munich. Manuel Neuer has conceded eight goals to Reus (seven in the Bundesliga, one in the Super Cup) – only Cristiano Ronaldo (ten) has netted more against Neuer.

Biggest home win: It dates back to 3 June 1967. Borussia triumphed 4-0 at the Rote Erde Stadion with two goals apiece from Lothar Emmerich and Reinhold Wosab.
