Maxim Leitsch will leave VfL Bochum 1848 before his contract expires and join 1.FSV Mainz 05, there he will sign a longer-term contract. The parties have agreed not to disclose the amount of the transfer fee.

“Maxim Leitsch is an exemplary example of the outstanding training we do with our talent,” said Sebastian Schindzielorz, Director of Sport, at VfL Bochum 1848, who recalled that “Maxim had already been playing for VfL since 2008 and had continuously developed. We have seen his development potential and supported him, also and especially in the phases when health problems troubled him. He has matured into a regular player at VfL and has proven his quality in the Bundesliga. That’s why we wanted to plan for the long term with him and extend his contract early on, but he already signaled during the most recent contract extension last year that he wanted to keep other options open. We have therefore agreed on a contract that allows him to move to another club early. We wish Maxim all the best and look forward to seeing him again next season.”
