Eleven players to bid farewell

It’s time for the last home game of the season. This is also always the time when farewells are on the agenda. In the run-up to the Bielefeld game on Friday evening, the Blue and Whites will thank a total of eleven professionals, all of whose contracts expire this summer, for their past service in the VfL colours. However, it is by no means out of the question that a few of these eleven players will also play for VfL in the coming Bundesliga season.

Since last Saturday and the magnificent derby victory at BVB, it is finally certain that VfL will also be represented in the Bundesliga in the coming season. Of course, this also has direct consequences for squad planning for the 2022/23 season. “Staying in the league gives us planning security, and talks can now be intensified. This applies to potential new arrivals, but also to players whose contracts with us are expiring. As usual, however, we will not announce a full deal until everything has been finalised. The time between securing our place in the league and our last home game was too short for that. We will therefore say goodbye to all eleven players on Friday, but we are working on having some of them with us in the new season,” explains Sebastian Schindzielorz, VfL’s Director of Sport.

In addition to the three players on loan, Elvis Rexhbecaj (VfL Wolfsburg), Konstantinos Stafylidis (TSG Hoffenheim) and Eduard Löwen (Hertha BSC), Robert Tesche, Danny Blum, Herbert Bockhorn, Vasileios Lampropoulos, Milos Pantovic, Jürgen Locadia, Tom Weilandt and Saulo Decarli will bid farewell during the final home game.
