FCA begin preseason with internal tests

First training session on Thursday

FC Augsburg have kicked off their preseason preparations for 2023/24. Head coach Enrico Maaßen’s side reported back from the summer break on Tuesday for internal performance tests.

In a string of individual examinations, the players were checked over from head to toe, including lactate and spirometry tests, EKGs and ultrasounds, as well as a SCAT-5 test (Sport Concussion Assessment Tool) where some functions of the brain are examined, such as balance and memory retention.

New signings Finn Dahmen, Patric Pfeiffer, Sven Michel and Tim Breithaupt were also on board as the players were put through their paces on the treadmill in the catacombs of the WWK-Arena. The quartet will take to the pitch for the first time at Thursday’s open training session.

The first preseason friendly will take place at the Rosenaustadion against Türkspor Augsburg on Tuesday, 11th July from 19:00 CEST.
