Tottenham ‘confident’ Kane will stay despite Ten Hag ‘obsession’; Levy ‘not keen’ on Man Utd deal

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is reportedly ‘confident’ he will be able to keep hold of Harry Kane amidst interest from Manchester United.

Kane has enjoyed a wonderful individual campaign, netting 30 goals in 38 Premier League appearances as Tottenham finished eighth.

The England captain is growing impatient with his side’s lack of success and is reportedly keen to leave in the summer after another trophyless season.

He pushed to join Manchester City two years ago but Pep Guardiola’s side did not meet Levy’s demands, and Kane stayed in north London.

With his contract set to expire at the end of next season, Kane could be on the move this summer.

There is solid interest from Manchester United and Bayern Munich, while Chelsea have also been linked given the arrival of ex-Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino.

A move to Stamford Bridge is pretty unlikely given Spurs’ rivalry with the Blues, but stranger things have happened in football.

Levy is understandably reluctant to sell his best player to a Premier League rival and the only way he will be able to keep hold of the 29-year-old is if they give him the Kylian Mbappe treatment.

This means essentially making him a member of the board, giving him a huge say on the transfer front, as well as passing over the captaincy (Mbappe did not get this but Hugo Lloris is leaving Spurs) and dishing out plenty of promises that the club will win silverware.

Promising trophies is much easier said than done, however, especially when you consider that Spurs have not won anything since 2008.

Although they have not had any success in the last 15 years, Levy is ‘confident’ he can keep hold of Kane this summer, according to talkSPORT.

Levy is ‘keen not to sell to a Premier League rival’ with Manchester United putting the England striker ‘top of their shopping list’ with Erik ten Hag ‘eyeing a new star to lead the line’.

A move abroad seems unlikely with Kane hell-bent on becoming the Premier League’s all-time leading goalscorer. He is currently second in the rankings with 213 goals, which is 47 less than Alan Shearer.

United are prioritising the signing of a striker and a report from The Guardian recently claimed .

Ten Hag is also reportedly interested in Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, who is expected to cost at least £120million after firing the Naples outfit to their first Serie A title in 33 years.

Previous reports have suggested that Levy will ask for £100m up front from any English side for Kane, despite the fact he is out of contract in a year.
