Man Utd forward Marcus Rashford has been told that he is “not good enough” to start for England despite his stunning form since the World Cup.

Rashford is in the form of his life at the moment and he scored a brace over the weekend as

He has now grabbed 24 goals and eight assists in 36 games this term. This includes ten goals and one assist in his last ten outings in the Premier League.

The Englishman scored three goals at the World Cup as Gareth Southgate’s side exited the competition in the quarter-finals. On current form, he is arguably now the manager’s best player.

Despite this, ex-Man Utd player Paul Parker feels that Rashford should not start for England at the moment. He claims there’s “no way” he starts over Harry Kane, which is fair enough.

But also argues that Arsenal right winger Bukayo Saka should start ahead of Rashford, despite the Man Utd star being best operated on the left flank.

“Rashford is scoring goals which is great but he is not a phenomenal player. He is not a player that is competing to be in the starting lineup for England,” Parker told bettors.

“Most of his goals are scored as a centre forward inside the small area of the penalty box and there is no way that Southgate will bench Harry Kane.

“And he is not good enough to play as a wide player for the national team. Bukayo Saka is one of the first players on Southgate’s team and he is very loyal to his players.”

He added: “Rashford also needs to understand that there is more than goals in football. He needs to make spaces for his teammates, assist them and create chances. I’m not seeing him do that.

“It’s brilliant that Rashford has performed that well goalscoring-wise for Man United after the World Cup.

“But I want him to do it consistently for more than two months before I will call him a world-class player. He is not there yet.”

Jack Grealish has a stronger case to start as his form has picked up this campaign. But even then he has not come close to reaching the level Rashford has been at.

Despite Rashford scoring against Leeds at Old Trafford, Parker claimed prior to the return fixture at Elland Road that the forward “wouldn’t stand a chance” against defender Luke Ayling.

“Rashford was really having a tough time against Leeds. I’m so disappointed by what I’m seeing from him. And now people are talking about him because he scored a goal. He would have been the villain but now he ends up being the hero which is totally wrong.”

He added: “Marcus Rashford wouldn’t stand a chance against him, so I don’t know what Erik ten Hag is going to do at Elland Road.”
