Simon Jordan has called out Man Utd legend Gary Neville following Qatari Sheikh Jassim Bin Hamad Al Thani’s bid to take over the Premier League club.

The club’s owners, the Glazer family, announced in November they were conducting a strategic review, with the sale of United one option being considered.

There was a soft deadline for bidders to make an initial offer for the Red Devils on Friday, and Al Thani and British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe both made their move.

It is now believed that both boyhood Man Utd fans will compete against each other to buy the club from the Glazers.

Qatar has obviously been in the headlines for a lot of the wrong reasons over the last decade or so.

Former Man Utd right-back Neville had voiced his concerns about the 2022 World Cup being held in the Middle Eastern country, before going over there to work during the tournament.

Profiting from what many believe to be a tainted tournament, the ex-England defender has been heavily condemned.

Often very opinionated on just about everything, Neville was called out on Twitter by talkSPORT pundit Jordan, who wants to hear the Sky Sports pundit’s opinion on his beloved Red Devils being the subject of a bid from a Qatari.

Jordan wrote: ‘So #mufc has a bid from a Qatari… Where’s the munchkin de facto mayor of Manchester @GNev2 on this?

‘Not hearing anything about workers rights or inclusivity from the old town crier… all quiet on the socialist front!’

Birthday boy Neville did not respond to Jordan and is yet to say anything about the takeover following the bid from Al Thani and Ratcliffe.

The full statement from Al Thani read: “Sheikh Jassim Bin Hamad Al Thani today confirmed his submission of a bid for 100 per cent of Manchester United Football Club.

“The bid plans to return the club to its former glories both on and off the pitch, and – above all – will seek to place the fans at the heart of Manchester United Football Club once more.

“The vision of the bid is for Manchester United Football Club to be renowned for footballing excellence, and regarded as the greatest football club in the world.”

Prior to the announcement, Man Utd’s LGBTQ+ supporters’ group the Rainbow Devils raised concerns. If you didn’t know already, same-sex relationships are criminalised in Qatar.

The group said on Twitter: “Rainbow Devils believe any bidder seeking to buy Manchester United must commit to making football a sport for everyone, including LGBTQ+ supporters, players and staff.

“We therefore have deep concern over some of the bids that are being made. We are watching the current process closely with this in mind.”
