VfL Wolfsburg host Mainz 05 on Bundesliga Matchday 30 on Sunday 30 April (kick-off: 17:30 CEST). The in-form visitors are currently on a 10-game unbeaten run that spans fixtures against the likes of Leverkusen, Leipzig and defending champions Bayern Munich, leaving Bo Svensson’s side firmly in contention for European qualification.

Yet the Wolves harbour continental ambitions of their own, as underlined by last week’s 5-1 thrashing of Bochum. The Green-and-Whites are determined to build on that with another three points here, and the omens are good if past meetings are anything to go by: VfL have won 10 of their last 20 home games against Mainz, drawing six and losing four. Furthermore, Niko Kovac’s side earned a comfortable 3-0 away victory earlier this season.
