Day four of #VfLinBruneck 2022. It’s been a long and intense day, after all, we had our first friendly match of the training camp this afternoon. Once again, the Blue and Whites proved their comeback skills.
Set piece galore
But first, the morning session at the training ground was on the agenda. Thomas Reis and, above all, Markus Gellhaus had their set piece list to train. Corners, free kicks, from both sides and various shooters. We know that this can become a weapon. In the end, Kevin Stöger and Co. were smoking in their shoes, and not just because of the increasingly high temperatures.
As usual, they went to the lake to cool off after the session. Manuel Riemann even went to the pool afterwards. Knowing that he would have the afternoon off in Bressanone, the goalkeeper allowed himself a short break in the garden of the Hotel Windschar.
Ordets debut
But Manu was also on the bus a little later, of course, when it was time for the 45-minute drive to Bressanone. VfL had already played here last year. Including a great experience for Riemann, because he met his idol Gigi Buffon in the test match against Parma. So this time there was no Riemann, and no Buffon. It was against Lecce, promoted to Serie A. Ivan Ordets played in the VfL kit for the first time. Unfortunately, he only played for twenty minutes. The Ukrainian was substituted during the first drink break. Minor complaints with his match fitness, rather not take any risks, as the coach told us afterwards. We are sure: Ordets comeback will come quickly.
Goal comeback
Let’s continue in comeback mode. And here, of course, we have to mention Kevin Stöger next. The noble technician hit the net for the first time after his return. A fine goal after a header from Philipp Hofmann. Want more? Okay. Because Silvère Ganvoula also netted. He scored five times before failing to score for the first time in Paderborn. Now again. Another comeback.
Zoller with the armband
Simon Zoller was also delighted. Although he didn’t score a goal, he was allowed to lead the team onto the field as captain for the first time in his blue and white career. After the break, he took over the armband from Toto Losilla. An honour, he also emphasised again in the evening via social media post.
Bressanone is blue and white
The Raiffeisen Arena in Bressanone was well attended this afternoon. VfL fans were mainly responsible for this. Many of them, who are also at the start of the training sessions in Gais, made their way to the test match venue. Nice support. Likewise at home at the screens, because also the livestreams on 1848TV and YouTube had very good call numbers. We are already looking forward to the next test run, on Saturday against Spezia Calcio.
