“We will collect ourselves now”

A 2-1 win against VfL Wolfsburg doesn’t change a disappointing finish to the 2022/23 season, but at least it was a winning end. “It was not the season that we had imagined, but obviously we are happy to have been able to win. A nice moment,” said Florian Niederlechner. Marco Richter said: “The win is secondary. I still can’t completely believe that we’ve been relegated,” said Hertha’s number 23. herthabsc.com has all the immediate reaction to the game in Wolfsburg.

Jovetić and Ejuke leave Hertha BSC

Even before the final game of the season against Wolfsburg, the Blue-Whites had been making team planning decisions. He has helped us time and time again with his vision, his technique and his understanding of the game,” said Benjamin Weber. “Our thanks also go to Chidi, who unfortunately was unable to play the role that we all had hoped in the second half of the season due to injury. We wish both of them all the best on and off the pitch,” continued Hertha’s sporting director.

Pascal Klemens signs new contract

Pascal Klemens has become the latest Hertha BSC youth product to sign a new contract with the club after signing a new deal until 2026. “We’re pleased that another home-grown player from the academy has chosen to remain at the club and to be a part of the project here. Pascal is without a doubt one of the best talents in his age group and has a lot of potential. We’ll support him as best we can in his development,” said Benjamin Weber. “As captain of the U19s, he’s demonstrated leadership qualities despite his young age and is also capable of playing at centre back and in defensive midfield.”

“We have a clear task”

The pain of the seventh relegation in Hertha’s history was self-evident at the Olympiastadion for all the players. Benjamin Weber was also experiencing this, but calmly spoke to the media, analysing the situation and summing up the events. “When you looked at the faces, you could see the frustration on everyone’s part. We didn’t get relegated in one game, however. It is the result of the whole season with this game as a reflection of that,” said the sporting director.

Hertha BSC seeks to extend bond maturity date

Hertha BSC GmbH & Co. KGaA initiated proceedings on Monday to extend maturity date of the €40 million bond issued in November 2018. Under the new proposed terms, the bond would be extended by 24 months until 8th November 2025. This would be accompanied by a 2% increase in the interest rate – from 6.5% p.a. to 8.5% p.a. – from the interest payment date of 8th August 2023, as well as a reorganisation of the structure of the liabilities permitted under the terms of the bond. In addition, the repayment amounts are to increase until final maturity, staggered by date. “This extension would enable us to stabilise and improve Hertha BSC’s financial situation for the upcoming season. In addition, it would be an important and central building block in the DFL’s licensing process. Therefore, quick approval and support would be of great importance to us,” explained managing director Thomas Herrich.
