Women’s handballers want to make the European League group stage

As was the case in February when 11,112 fans made their way to the Westfalenhalle for the group game against Siofok, the motto for the game against Dunarea Braila on Sunday will be “All in the hall”. The visitors from Romania are one of the top teams in their domestic league and sit fifth in the 14-team division after 10 games, despite suffering a 27-26 home defeat in the top match against Gloria Bistrita on Wednesday.

Terzic looking to pose a serious challenge to Stuttgart

The BVB first team set off on their journey to Stuttgart riding high off their success last time out. On Tuesday, the Black and Yellows won their Champions League home match against Newcastle United 2-0 to go top of Group F. “We played a really great game against Newcastle,” said BVB head coach Edin Terzic, looking back once more before turning his attention to the Bundesliga match. “The personnel situation has not changed. It was very intense, but the guys got through it well.” There are only question marks lingering over Emre Can’s participation. The captain, who has now missed three matches due to injury, was able to complete parts of the training session on Thursday. “Today, we will see how he feels and if he can increase the load in training. But it will be very close for the game,” said Terzic, who was, however, pleased to see Mateu Morey return to the training ground. “We hope that he will remain stable and that we will see him on the pitch at the training ground more frequently during the international break.”

Terzic: “Seven points won’t be enough”

The defeat against Bayern Munich briefly came up at the press conference. And the coach’s response was: “We know we couldn’t make amends for what happened on Saturday with a game in the Champions League. We sent a lot of people home disappointed. It was a case of drawing the right conclusions. We can be very satisfied with the team’s reaction. Now we have another important game in the Bundesliga in Stuttgart. It’s about continuing where we left off today.”

Places 1 to 4 – it’s all still possible in Group F

” I already said after the Milan game: the group is wild. And it’s not over yet,” commented Julian Brandt in the aftermath of BVB’s victory against Newcastle and prior to AC Milan’s 2-1 triumph against Paris Saint-Germain. That statement is now even more relevant.
